Important Note: We HIGHLY recommend purchasing all of your travel accommodations (e.g., flight tickets, hotel rooms, etc) as refundable or modifyable. We also recommend purchasing travel medical insurance in the case of travel interruptions due to rescheduling. While we do our best to honor all reserved surgery dates, there have been instances in which unforeseen circumstances require surgery rescheduling or cancellation.

Where to Stay

The location of the surgical procedure is confirmed closer to the time of the surgery date (~90 days prior to surgery). As a result, we recommend that patients make accommodation arrangements closer to the Jun Surgical Medical Clinic, where all pre- and post-operative appointments are held.

The Bay Area is a bustling metropolitan with multiple transportation options, each of which requires considerations for traffic. To avoid heavy traffic congestion, we recommend that patients stay within the peninsula portion of the Bay Area (e.g., San Francisco to Santa Clara). It is also possible to stay within the greater Bay Are region (e.g., East Bay, South Bay, North Bay, San Jose) with greater considerations to traffic times.

Caregivers

In addition to safe housing and reliable transportation, a patient must have a trusted caregiver with them while recovering during post-op in the Bay Area. This person must be able to help transport the patient from the hospital after surgery and to/from clinic for post-operative appointments. Having a caregiver is mandatory.

A responsible companion should be able to make responsible decisions on behalf of the patient should the need arise. The companion will become familiar with post-operative care instructions. Their responsibilities may include, but is not limited to, assistance with activities of daily living, transportation, dressing changes, and emotional support.
